Vaccination Update

Central Coast Haematology wish to remind our patients that they are eligible for a COVID-19 booster (Pfizer or Moderna) 3 months following their primary course (3 doses for patients with a haematological malignancy). Bookings can be made at your GP, pharmacy, Gosford and Wyong Hospital vaccination clinics or Newcastle vaccination hub using the following link: COVID vaccine bookings.

Walk-in vaccinations for all primary doses and boosters are available at Central Coast Health vaccination clinics at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals. Details are available at Central Coast Health Facebook.

Please continue to practice risk mitigation strategies (e.g. mask wearing, social distancing and rapid antigen testing) to reduce your risk of acquiring COVID-19. If you test positive for COVID-19 please contact the rooms on the next business day as you may be eligible for sotrovimab (a monoclonal antibody to the SARS-CoV-2 virus). This link provides additional Information for patients on sotrovimab.

Australia's first protein vaccine, Novavax, will be available through select GPs and pharmacies from 14 February.  Novavax uses a non-infectious prtocoein component of the virus made in a lab in combination with an immune booster derived from the Chilean soapbox tree. After vaccination our immune cells recognise the vaccine protein as foreign and launch an immune response against it.

Vaccination, including a booster dose, is our best protection against getting sick with COVID-19. It helps protect us, our families, our community and our health care system.
