COVID-19 boosters

Central Coast Haematology encourage all our patients to proceed with a COVID-19 booster vaccination 5 months after they completed their primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Immunocompromised patients (e.g. people with an active haematological malignancy) should receive 3 primary doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, with the 3rd dose given at least 2 months after the second primary dose. A booster dose is likely to be recommended approximately 5 months after the third primary dose, although the ATAGI advise about this has not yet been finalised. All of us need to continue with risk mitigation strategies, such as mask wearing, social distancing and hand wasing/sanitising, to reduce our risk of acquiring COVID-19.
