Opening our new clot clinic

Dr Richard Blennerhassett and Dr Cecily Forsyth have established the Central Coast Haematology Clot Clinic to facilitate rapid specialist assessment of patients with venous thromboembolism. We aim to see patients within a week of receiving a referral and thereby reduce ED presentations and hospitalisations. We will review the cause of the clot, the appropriate duration of therapeutic anticoagulation, and arrange any further assessments that might be required such as thrombophilia screening.

All patients must have a valid referral addressed to either Dr Blennerhassett or Dr Forsyth. Referrals from ED staff specialists or Wyong/Gosford Hospital RMOs are accepted as long as the doctor has included their valid provider number.

Referrals can be made by uploaded the referral form on our website or by faxing the referral to (02) 8212 5864 or email to admin@cchaematology.org.au. We will then contact the patient to arrange an appointment.
